Spring time allergies?

Oh the wonders of spring!  The delight of warmer weather, the beautiful blue skies, the wonderful new growth on the trees!  Oh the amazing pain in the sinuses!  Just bending over to put a plant into the ground makes your head want to explode!
I have received numerous phone calls from clients desperate for help with their springtime allergies.  Here are a few things I recommend.

Use a neti pot twice a day. By flushing the sinuses you help to break up the congestion and relieve the pressure. Into the pot add distilled or previously boiled water and a teaspoon of natural non iodine salt. Adding more salt or a bit of baking soda is fine if that cuts the sting of the water.  Many prefer warm water, I like mine on the cooler side (less of a gag reflex with cooler water). If I really have a stubborn sinus congestion I add a 1/4 teaspoon of colloidal silver.  It may sting-but it does clear up the congestion.

Take Ester C up to bowel tolerance to build the immune system.  You know when you have reached your bodies max when you get loose stools.  The amount is different for everyone and could be different from time to time in each individual.  I start with taking 2 capsules and if all is well, I take 3 in four hours, and so on .  When the body has an infection it can use much more Ester C  than when healthy.

Take 1/2 teaspoon of Colloidal Silver in a drink every 4 hours.  Bacteria cannot live in the presence of silver, so this works as a natural antibiotic.  Just like an antibiotic it is not to be taken on a regular bases.  For most sinus conditions taking it for a couple of days does the trick.

Add a few drops of tea tree oil into a bowl of boiling hot water and hold your face over the steam. Of course not so closes to burn yourself!   Drape a towel over you head to trap the steam and inhale deeply.  The oils in the water are soothing to the sinuses and break up the congestion.

Defuse essential oils into the air of the home.  Young living has great blends for the sinuses - RC and Thieves are a couple I like.

Common sense should rule.  If these steps don't help you out, consult your Doctor.

The next thing to consider is getting rid of your allergies completely. This is not as difficult as you may think, if you are motivated!  I will talk about the basic steps in my next blog.  In the meantime.. Enjoy the fresh air!
